Autumn Abundance: A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop

Hi! I’m Vy with Crafting Daily Dose. Welcome to this month’s A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop, featuring alternatives for the September 2024 Autumn Abundance kit.

This kit included supplies for 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs. Kits always come with an exclusive stamp set, a mini ink cube, embellishments, and adhesives. As of today, refills are no longer available for this kit.

When I saw the adorable snail die cut and stamp from this kit, I knew I had to find a way to add a bit of motion to the card. I created a slider card by trimming off 1/2” from the width of the cardbase and cutting a slot for movement.

The bottom and left edges of the cardbase are adhered together, creating a pocket. I added a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock (or you can trim down the Cajun Craze / White piece included in the kit) to be the panel that slides out, giving me a place to write my message. I placed this into the pocket so that it’s centered vertically and 1/2” of it protrudes from the right side, creating a handle that can be used to pull out the slider. I then placed 2 of the mini Dimensionals foam stickers onto the slider, at the left edge of the slot. I used some of the scraps that I had trimmed off from the cardbase to create a bottom base for the snail die-cut and secured it by adhering another piece of scrap to the back. This whole assembly was then added on top of those Dimensionals.

Measurements:

- Kit cardbase

  • 5” (W) x 8-1/2” (H) (trimmed off 1/2" from right edge). At 1" and at 1-1/4" from bottom edge, cut from 2” to 4-1/2" and then trim to connect those cuts, creating a slot for movement

- Very Vanilla cardstock

  • 4” (W) x 3-1/2” (H)

All that was left was to add the decorations! I cut the Cajun Craze banner in half and adhered it behind the stamped sentiment label so that it looked longer. I used a piece of clear tape over the cut edges to make them smooth so that there wouldn't be any catchpoints as I placed this over the movement slot to disguise it. Lastly, I gently curled the edges of the leaf and mushroom diecuts to add dimension before adhering them to the card.

And now the snail slides along to deliver the message!

Thank you so much for visiting! Don’t forget to follow the hop to see other creative projects from our team!

October 11th is the last day to sign up for this month’s kit, called Nests of Christmas. This kit will make 10 cards, 5 each of 2 designs. If you‘re in the U.S. and would like to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin with me, I’ll send you a handmade thank you card, and I’ll be sure to let you know when I post new ideas!
