I love the design of the November 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit. The mid-century look feels both retro and modern (thanks to many episodes of The Jetsons!).
I’ll be sharing some card ideas that can be made as extensions of this kit, but let’s start with the mini stockings. These are so cute for decor and gift-giving! For a different look, turn them inside out. Fold the cuff down and flip just the top part of it back up. If you’d like, you can give it a quick press with an iron (or a hair flat iron if you’re lazy like me and don’t want to drag out the ironing board). You could even sew a few stitches to tack the cuff in place, but it’s not necessary.
I will be sending a care package to my daughter and will include some stockings for her and her college roommates as a little treat while they prepare for exams. To make the stockings more festive, I stamped them using Poppy Parade ink (included in the kit), Shaded Spruce (in last month’s kit), Flirty Flamingo, and Coastal Cabana. Now technically the blue-green color that coordinates with this kit is Pool Party, but I found it to be a bit too light to show up well on the fabric, and Coastal Cabana is a close cousin. I used letter stickers from the Love This Memory Notebook kit to spell out their names. As always, you can find a link to supplies at the end of this post.
I found cocoa mix with mod packaging at World Market, which fit perfectly in the stocking, and I added a peppermint stick and gift card.
When I first started stamping, Paper Pumpkin kits helped me gradually build my collection of stamps and inks. Even though each kit is all-inclusive, it’s always fun to incorporate images from past kits, so don’t forget to take stock of what you have. Here, I included the bough stamp and Shaded Spruce ink from last month’s kit. Isn’t the Pecan Pie Center Stripe ribbon cute? If you just want the look of a ribbon loop, you can attach it with glue dots, but if you want it to be functional, it’s best to sew the loop down with a few stitches.
Remember the bonus number stamps from the August 2024 kit? You can use them to make a mini advent calendar.
Decorated stockings can be hung up as ornaments separately or strung together like a banner. Fill them with treats for people in your life, or hand them out as random acts of kindness. I’m so glad refills are available right now because I have so many I want to give out. Hope you have fun with your kit too!
December 10th is the last day to sign up for next month’s kit, called Home for the Holidays. This kit makes 9 projects, 3 each of 3 designs. If you‘re in the U.S. and would like to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin with me, I’ll send you a handmade thank you card, and I’ll be sure to let you know when I post new ideas!
