Home for the Holidays: A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop

Hi! I’m Vy with Crafting Daily Dose. Welcome to this month’s A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop, featuring alternatives for the October 2023 Home for the Holidays kit.

This kit included supplies for 8 cards, 4 each of 2 designs. Kits always come with an exclusive stamp set, a mini ink cube, embellishments, and adhesives. As of today, refills are still available for this kit.

Today's project is a simple alternative that looks pretty on its own or can be propped up over a battery-powered tea light. You can use just the supplies from the kit, but if you add a piece of vellum, it helps to diffuse the light and gives you a place to add falling glitter "snow" to make it look even more special.

To start, I folded the cardbase so that the original front of the card was now on the inside. From the new front of the card, I cut out a rectangle, leaving a 3/4" border along the top and sides.

I used mini glue dots to discreetly attach a piece of vellum to the inside of the new card front. Next, I adhered the die cut houses to the front. I used glitter glue on the roofs and along the snowy areas at the bottom of the card to add sparkle, and I dotted some on the vellum and "frame" too. Finally, I added a sentiment to the top with the included Dimensionals.

Measurements:

-Kit cardbase

  • 5-1/2” (W) x 8-1/2” (H), scored at 4-1/4" along the long side. At 3/4" and at 4-3/4", cut from the top to 3-1/2". Rotate clockwise. At 5", cut from 3/4" to 4-3/4" to connect previous cuts

-Vellum cardstock (optional)

  • 5-1/2” (W) x 4-1/4” (H)

Thank you so much for visiting! Don’t forget to follow the hop to see other creative projects from our team!

November 10th is the last day to sign up for this month’s kit, called Warm Wishes. This kit makes 8 treat boxes, 4 each of 2 designs, and it coordinates with the October kit. If you‘re in the U.S. and would like to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin with me, I’ll send you a handmade thank you card, and I’ll be sure to let you know when I post new ideas!
