Hi! I’m Vy with Crafting Daily Dose. Welcome to this month’s A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop, featuring alternatives for the August 2023 Fun in the Sun kit.
This kit included supplies for 8 cards—4 each of 2 different designs. Kits always come with an exclusive stamp set, a mini ink cube, embellishments, and adhesives. As of today, refills are still available for this kit.
My alternative today is an interactive card in which the lotus flower emerges up, just as the wonderful sentiment on the front says it does.
I loved using the beautiful bonus stamp set to create a flower for the front of the card. DisINKtive stamps like these are so richly detailed, with all those tiny dots creating shading and depth. If your ink pad is very juicy and there's ink filling up the spaces between the dots, it may give you a blotchy image. If that's the case, use a blending brush or sponge dauber to lightly swirl over the inked stamp and remove a bit of the excess ink before stamping. After stamping with Melon Mambo ink, I used a blender pen on my stamped image to create a blurred, painterly effect that still retains all the pretty shading from the stamp. I colored in the center of the flower with a Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Marker before fussy cutting it out and placing it over leaf images stamped in Pretty Peacock. The front of the card also uses the clear embellishments from the kit.
The inside of the card is a simple mechanism constructed from the decorative panel and envelope from the kit.
Take a look at how to make one:
Measurements:
-Kit cardbase (use the back of the card as the front)
-Kit decorative panel
3-1/2” (W) x 5-1/4” (H) (trim 1/2" from left), scored at 1" from top
-Kit envelope
approximately 5-1/2" (W) x 2-1/2” (H), scored at 5/8" along the long side and then at 4-1/4" from the first score line along the long side
-Basic White cardstock

September 10th is the last day to sign up for this month’s kit, called From the Heart. This kit makes 8 treat boxes and 8 mini 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" notecards. We'll get a Lost Lagoon mini ink cube, which is a new core color. If you‘re in the U.S. and would like to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin with me, I’ll send you a handmade thank you card, and I’ll be sure to let you know when I post new ideas!
