Painted Petals: A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop

Hi! I’m Vy with Crafting Daily Dose. Welcome to this month’s A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop, featuring alternatives for the July 2024 Painted Petals kit.

This kit included supplies for 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs. Kits always come with an exclusive stamp set, a mini ink cube, embellishments, and adhesives. As of today, refills are sold out for this kit.

For my project, I added a cardstock base in a coordinating color, Mossy Meadow (I love how those colors are listed on the instruction sheet for easy reference), and I cut up the original cardbase. I trimmed down the front of the card and then cut a piece from the back of the card to create a flower box. I trimmed the bottom leaves from th die cut since they'd be hidden in this design and attached the pieces to the back of the flower box, bringing the trimmed leaves further up so that they could be seen. For added stability, I adhered a piece of scrap cardstock behind this so that the die cuts were sandwiched in.

I centered the printed panel on the front of my new cardbase. The flower box panel has 2 score lines on either side, and I folded them back to create a raised tab for adhering this piece, with the attached die cuts, onto the card. This creates dimension but easily folds down flat to fit inside the envelope. Finally, I added a stamped sentiment and some of the embellishments from the kit.

Measurements:

-Mossy Meadow cardstock

  • 4-1/2” (W) x 11” (H), scored at 5-1/2" along the long side

-Kit cardbase

  • Front: 3-1/2” (W) x 4-3/4” (H)

  • Back: 5” (W) x 1-3/4” (H), scored at 3/8" and 3/4" from each side, along the long side

Thank you so much for visiting! Don’t forget to follow the hop to see other creative projects from our team!

August 11th is the last day to sign up for this month’s kit, called Time for Cake. This kit will make 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs. If you‘re in the U.S. and would like to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin with me, I’ll send you a handmade thank you card, and I’ll be sure to let you know when I post new ideas!
